  • In Vedic traditions, lighting Diya / Deepam / Lamp is practiced at least twice a day, I.e., before sunrise and during sunset. Chanting the auspicious “Deepam Shloka” given below and using a mixture of pure and natural oils for lighting help us to receive supreme blessings.

Meaning: 

Shubham- Promising Success; karoti – which brings; kalyaanam- Success; aaroghyam- good health; dhana sampadah- abundance of wealth; shatru buddhi- intellect’s enemy (ignorance); vinashaaya- destroying; deepa jyotir- glowing lamp light; namosthuthe- I salute thee.

Para-Brahma -  the only creator of all beings; Janaardanah - the protector of all things; Deepo Harathu - destroyer in the form of light; Paapam - darkness and sins.

Usage

  • Pour required amount of oil in the lamp and soak the wick in the oil for a minute before lighting.
  • Shake well before use. Store it in a cool and dry place.
